P6-7C 1st June
Hi Everyone
It is hard to believe that today is 1st June and we are in the final month of this school year. I hope you have been enjoying the glorious weather over the past few days and been getting lots of fresh air. As the tennis courts have re-opened in the People's Park I was able to get out for a game of tennis!
P7 Leavers' Book
Thanks so much to those of you have sent myself or Mrs Young a picture and piece of writing for the leavers' book. If you still have to send your work can you please do so before the end of the week. Also remember if you have any funny Braidside memories send them as well.
Mental Maths
I have included four mental maths tests and a times table speed test. The final mental maths test is tricky so just do your best.
Maths
I have uploaded two videos to explain this weeks maths - it is on finding the fraction of an amount this is for both maths groups. Then for group 1 only Finding the original fraction. Once you have watched the video a couple of times have a go at answering the questions. if you can't manage it all don't worry.
This is the link for the first video Fractions of an Amount, you need to copy the link below into the search bar, hope this works ok.

Spellings
I have given you ten or fifteen spellings. Write them out each day and get someone to ask you them. I have also included a crossword.
Literacy
For those if you who have finished all the comprehensions from the learning pack you could have a go at some of the First News activities that Mrs Young has been uploading each week. I have included one on our class page but feel free to go and choose another one from Mrs Young's post.
Competition Time
I have included details of a competition from the Ulster Teachers' Union - you would enter the Key Stage 2 section. There are details on the flyer I have attached. You need to write and illustrate a short story or poem about what you are looking forward to after lockdown. It might be who you would want to see, where you would go for a meal, where you visit, maybe what you will do when you meet up with your friends again. Details about where to send your entry are included on the poster, you will also see the winner gets £20, second £10 and third £5 so it is worth your while having a go!!
P6 Buddies
P6 I hope you all got your letter from Mrs Heffron about your special job. Next year when you move into P7 you will have lots of extra responsibilities and as you know one of these is helping the P1 children settle into their new school. In previous years the P7s have loved being buddies and have done an excellent job and I know this is something you have all been looking forward to. So don't forget to reply to Mrs Heffron this week to let her know you want to be a buddy. I know you will all be super at the important job of being a buddy!!
Remember I am always keen to hear what you have been up to, so please keep sending me pictures of your work and anything else interesting you have been doing.
Take Care
Mr Calderwood
