Walk to School Week 2024

17th May 2024

Dear Parents/Guardians and pupils,

Walk to school week this year is taking place next week from Monday 20th May to Friday 24th May.
As part of the Sustrans, Take 5 and Brake road safety initiatives we are encouraging all children to walk to and from school throughout the week where possible. It is important that all children are accompanied by a responsible adult and please talk to your child prior to partaking in the activities about the importance of road safety and the green cross code.
On Friday 24th May we will also once again be hosting our safe routes to school walk from Ballymena North. We are meeting at Ballymena North at 8:25 am to leave promptly at 8:35 am to walk together to school. It is essential that all children are accompanied by an adult and that all adults are mindful of the need to carefully supervise and keep an eye on their child's safety whilst on the walk. We will be walking from Ballymena North along the Cushendall road and then onto the Frys Road.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A WALKING ONLY EVENT, THEREFORE WE ASK THAT CHILDREN DO NOT BRING BIKES OR SCOOTERS TO BALLYMENA NORTH.

Happy walking everyone! We look forward to seeing you bright and early on Monday morning for a fun filled week of being fit and active!
Mrs Horan (Sustrans/Active Travel coordinator).
