Term 3 (week 2) Monday 27th April 2020
Hello P5F!
Bonjour ( what language is this?)
How was your week? Wasn't the sunshine and heat just lovely? I have enjoyed getting back onto my bike this last two weeks, after many months of not being able to, and cycling the roads. My three boys are working very hard each day. They do enjoy time outside and creative tasks too! Our two dogs will definitely struggle when we all return to school and work in the future. They are enjoying us at home, all day, every day!
It was lovely hearing from pupils this week. Getting to see your work was brilliant too. I miss the classroom. For now, we have email and online learning. For that, I am grateful- as a teacher and a parent of three boys.
If you still have work from last week you would like to send, please do so. I love seeing your efforts and creativity.
Please do what you can and do not feel that everything on this list is to be done. I am covering a range of interests and skill set.
Literacy- Pobble 365 (online) - Response to picture
This week I want you to choose an image of your choice. Tell me what date and image it is.
Follow the instructions and tasks beneath the image.
Discuss with an adult your thoughts (and theirs) on the image and try to go 'beyond' the picture- before and after- either in time frame or in the actual image- what's not in the view of the camera lens.
Story starter... I would love to see you try a short story as one of your chosen tasks. Why not do it over two days-
First day- making a plan for your writing, using a writing frame - introduction/development/conclusion/characters/events/key phrases/descriptions/feelings.
Second day- put your ideas together to create a story- using paragraphs (where there is a natural break in events or topic being told/discussed).
Maths - Tables again this week... learn these-
squaring a number- complete these up to 12. Multiplying a number by itself.
1=1 (1x1)
2=4 (2x2)
3=9 (3x3)
TWAU-
skills- Photography... ICT
Topic- Sun, Moon and Stars
Have you seen any of our amazing skylines during sunrise and sunset? I have some amazing photographs taken these last few weeks. If you are able to take any- please do send them to me via email. Have a go at giving them an interesting caption! Perhaps your parents or someone you know has some lovely photos taken of our recent skies?
Remember to ensure your photograph captures something of interest to you, in the colours you see! I also have some beautiful shots of cloud pattern in the sky too! There may be objects in the image...your bike, your trampoline, your rooftop.. Think about what angle you take the photo from- low down/above...I cannot wait to see what you come up with.
Why not try putting a short Power Point presentation together...Your photos may be taken over the course of a week, but you put them in an order of day and night in your presentation. You could try adding some music, a voice over, making use of effective slide transitions. The choices are endless. Add in text either on each slide or at start/end explaining what it is that you are capturing in the image- use your adjectives and interesting phrases-similes.

1. 20 words- place in alphabetical order.
2. Use a diactionary to find the meaning of words you don't know.
3. Use internet, with a parent, to look at images of each of the planets and words based on our spelling list.
Creative arts-
Music
Do you know our school creed? It is on our homepage of our website. Your challenge this week is to transform this verse into a song. You may wish to repeat lines to make it like a chorus section or add in a bridge... You don't need to use every single word...if it works to leave some words out to make it fit, then do so. You could even use some instruments in it too- get creative with these- think percussion (homemade perhaps).
Art-
Create an image or a logo that represents our school creed. There are quite a few things need incorporated to capture the ethos of our school. I look forward to seeing what ideas you come up with.
I would love to upload these with your permission onto our class web page.
Enjoy this week's tasks.
I have kept them creative based for you. Do what you can.
I do hope you enjoy. Don't forget to email me.
I look forward to receiving a mixture of songs, photographs, presentations, stories and pictures.
Mrs Fulton.
(Next week's work will consist of comprehension, grammar and Maths problem solving challenges.)
