Term 3 Week 1 (1) 20th April 2020

20th Apr 2020

Welcome- Please see below 5 tasks for this week.

1. Easter review-

What did your Easter holidays look like for you this year?

Please email me a short letter on what you have been up to? Are any of you missing school?  Are you excited for our new build?  What are you looking forward to the most about our new premises?

Letter layout- address/date/Dear...../Yours Sincerely,

Please remember to check and adjust your punctuation where necessary.

Can you use any interesting vocabulary in your letter?

I would love to see great use of adjectives for your nouns, and adverbs for your verbs!

2. Spelling Challenge-

Can you make a spelling list of all the new things you think our new build will have?  Aim for 20 words!

I will start you off...

1. corridors

2. skylights

now check your spellings using a dictionary/adult/Alexa!  Your choice!

 3. Choose your 'favourite five' words or things and create a paragraph

incorporating your chosen 5 spelling words into it.  Remember your punctuation- can you make use of the following in your paragraph- ?  ,  .  ''  ''  ! ...

The final one is known as an ellipsis ... (dot dot dot) often use to create suspense or to show there is more to come.  See how you can use it to create suspense or excitement in your paragraph.

eg using my two words-

Our welcoming corridors will be flooded with light from the many skylights placed around the roofing of our new building!

Underline your five words in the paragraph.  If you wish to use more words or to write a second paragraph, do so.

4. Times Tables challenge... Prog to watch before this task...

Over the next few weeks we are going to reinforce and develop our tables knowledge.  Starting with 2,3,4 times tables this week, write out each table up to 20x2, 20x3, 20x4.  You may need to do multiplying sums for some of these answers.  Or can you find alternate ways for eg- doubling and halving?

Youtube (with an adult)

Prog on - Maths Mansion 13- Breaking up is an easy thing to do...(8 min 58)

Learning Intention- using what you know to complete your multiplication sums.

Now be creative in completing 2/3/4 times tables up to 20 times for each.

5. Pobble 365 Monday 20th- Watery World   (alliteration used here with each word beginning with W).
