Term 3 Has Arrived
Hello P7Y.
I hope that you are all safe and well at home, that you have enjoyed your Easter break and not eaten too much chocolate! Today should have been our first day in our beautiful new building... and it was only going to be our P7 classes in! How lovely would that have been?
I have been a busy bee in my garden... planting flowers, painting fences and sanding down gates and woodwork. I've been getting my daily exercise by walking long distances and I've been reading lots of great books!... It would be lovely to hear what you have been up to as well.
Anyway, it is term 3 now and I hope that you are ready to get your brains working again. By now, I'm sure some of you are completely through your packs which were sent home in March. I hope that you enjoyed finishing off your Titanic books as well... please feel free to upload anything which you are particularly pleased with. I'd love to see it.
This term, I plan to upload our New Wave Maths each week. It is a new P7 book which came in and you will notice that the pages are in colour. Each week there is a Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, problem-solving and Friday review. I will upload the answers at the end of each week for you to check.
I have also put on an Extension set of New Wave Maths. Please only have a go if you feel ready for a challenge. They are trickier!
Each week, I will put up a few literacy activities, and again, I will happily put on answers to these at the end of the week, if that suits people best.
This term, our TWAU topic is Human Rights, Fairness and Justice. This topic links nicely to your work on Fair Trade products in P6. If we had been in class, some ideas which we may have explored are:
- How the world's wealth is distributed
- Laws about children and work in the UK
- Laws about children and work in 3rd world countries
- Sweat shops
- Equal rights for men/women around the world
- Homelessness
- How our buying habits affect others' rights
This was a lovely new topic for P7 this year. In planning together, we may have come up with lots of ideas which are not on this list. As I find links/activities which explore these, I will put them on here or direct you to them and you can have a look. Again, I would ask you that if you find anything really useful, like a website or programme, share it with me, so that I can share it with everyone else.
Don't forget to stay active. We have been given some wonderful weather to enjoy... so get into those gardens and make the most of it. Lots of love. Miss you all,
Mrs Young xxx
