Primary 4O Tasks Tuesday 23 February 2021

22nd Feb 2021

Hello boys and girls, these are today’s tasks. You will find the books and worksheets you need in your new learning packs, which by now you will have explored. Read your tasks’ instructions carefully before completing your task. Please do not try to complete other tasks that are not listed for today. Remember to upload your finished work so I can view it and give you some feedback.

Literacy

In your learning packs you will find your workbook entitled New Wave English in practice. This is a new booklet which we will complete each day. It helps us to see how much we remember from our grammar work and our spelling work. I would like you to complete Day 2 of the booklet. Read the questions carefully making sure if you are asked to write an answer you write it in the box provided, if you’re asked to circle an answer you circle it, or if you are asked to tick a question, you tick it. Only do Day 2 today.

Today we are going to continue with our Guided Reading. Have a look on the timetable for today and see which book or chapter your group have to read. Once you have read your book or chapter, discuss what you have read with the adult who has listened to you. Once you have done this, take from your learning pack, the task for this piece of Guided Reading. When you answer your questions remember to use full sentences, capital letters and full stops. Remember to make sure your handwriting is neat and well presented. Read over your answers to ensure they make sense and are answering the question.

Once you have completed your Guided Reading task then you have an opportunity to continue learning and testing yourself on your weekly spellings which you received on Monday.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you some feedback.

Numeracy

In your learning pack you will find your mental maths workbook for the next four weeks. Complete Tuesday’s tasks for the first week.

As  I said yesterday, we are going to look at money. We are going to look at the coins we use and how we can use our addition, subtraction and multiplication skills that we have been learning this year and how we can apply them to money.

As we know, money Is used to buy things such as food, clothes, toys and books and to pay for things such as electricity, oil or gas for heating, houses, holidays, parties and entry into places such as a cinema or swimming pool. We know we can earn money for doing a job or as pocket money. In Northern Ireland we know our money is made up of a mixture of coins and notes. Our focus is on the coins we use. If you have coins available at home use them to help you know and understand their value. Think about how you could use money in everyday life. Ask your parents how they used money recently- you might be surprised at the many things money is used for.

Remember we only have the following coins in our currency or money 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.

In your learning packs and using Book 1, complete the next 4 pages. The first two pages you have to list the coins that make up the price of the item. Remember the coins we have in our money. The 3rd page asks you how much each person has. The 4th page asks you to show which coins you need to buy the items. The work for these tasks can be completed on the sheets.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.

P.E.

Today we are going to workout with Joe Wicks’ P.E. Fitness programme. Have a look at last week’s video, which is last Friday‘s (19 February) broadcast and see how you get on. I thought it was quite funny 🤣Remember that exercise is good for your fitness and both your physical and mental health. So let’s get fit and enjoy🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Diary

I would like you to complete a diary entry for today. Remember to date your entry and answer the following questions:

How do I feel today? What did I like doing? What’s the weather like? What is happening in the world today?

For the last question you will have to listen to the news or ask an adult.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.
