Primary 4O Tasks for Wednesday 3 March 2021

1st Mar 2021

Hello boys and girls. I hope you are all safe and well. I hope you enjoyed making your bookmarks. I hope you will use them in your reading books. Today is Wellbeing Wednesday and I have combined this afternoon’s activity with World Book Day. I hope you enjoy it. Don’t forget our Catch-up meeting at 11.30. Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you some feedback. Have a good day and enjoy your tasks 😃

Literacy

In your New Wave English in practice complete Day 8 of the booklet. Read the questions carefully making sure if you are asked to write an answer you write it in the box provided, if you’re asked to circle an answer you circle it, or if you are asked to tick a question, you tick it. Only do Day 8 today.

Today we are going to continue with our Guided Reading. Have a look on the timetable for today and see which book or chapter your group have to read. Once you have read your book or chapter, discuss what you have read with the adult who has listened to you. Once you have done this, take from your learning pack, the task for this piece of Guided Reading. When you answer your questions remember to use full sentences, capital letters and full stops. Remember to make sure your handwriting is neat and well presented. Read over your answers to ensure they make sense and are answering the question.

Once you have completed your Guided Reading task then you have an opportunity to continue learning and testing yourself on your weekly spellings which you received on Monday.

Remember to upload your finished work so I can view it and give you some feedback.

Numeracy

In your learning pack you will find your mental maths workbook for the next four weeks. Complete Wednesday’s tasks for the second week.

For the remainder of this term we are going to look at money. We are going to look at the coins we use and how we can use our addition, subtraction and multiplication skills that we have been learning this year and how we can apply them to money.

Remember we only have the following coins in our currency or money 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2. Other countries will have different coins.

Today we are going to focus on money values using the least or smallest number of coins. Your tasks can be completed on your worksheets.

In your learning packs you will find two money booklets. I would like you to select Book 2 and complete the first two pages. On the first page (Money) you have to make up the values shown using as few coins as you can. Your answers to the questions will only use the coins in our currency. You can use a coin more than once. If you have coins at home you can use them to help you. On the second page you have to add on a coin or coins that will make up the value in the purse. Again only use the coins in our currency.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Since we returned to school in September, every Wednesday afternoon is dedicated to looking at and after our wellbeing. We are important and those around us such as our families, friends and teachers are very aware of this. Sometimes we forget how important we really are! We have been away from school and learning at home for a long time. For many of us, including me, we miss being at school with our friends and learning and doing new and fun things. It is important to look after ourselves both physically and mentally. Due to the many restrictions there are lots of things we cannot do but the good news is things are getting better as more people get vaccinated, myself included.

So today, and as part of our World Book Day activities and for Wellbeing Wednesday, we are going to read a book. BUT, I would like you to read your book somewhere you would not normally do so 🤔, somewhere unusual. Have a think where you could take your book to read that would be different - maybe in or around your house or maybe somewhere when you are out exercising. Take a picture of yourself reading and upload it to me. Let’s see the most unusual place for a P4 to read a book 🤗🤔

Remember to upload your pictures and send them to me so I can give you feedback.

Diary

I would like you to complete a diary entry for today. Remember to date your entry and answer the following questions:

How do I feel today? What did I like doing? What’s the weather like? What is happening in the world today?

For the last question you will have to listen to the news or ask an adult.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.
