Primary 4O Tasks Wednesday 24 February 2021

23rd Feb 2021

Hello boys and girls, these are your tasks for today. You will find your Numeracy, Guided Reading books, booklets and worksheets for your tasks, in your learning packs. I hope you enjoy having a go at this afternoon’s Wellbeing activity, I did when I tried it out. I will be in school today, but have some meetings on Zoom and Teams this afternoon, so I may not be able to reply to you before the school day ends. Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Literacy

In your learning packs you will find you workbook entitled New Wave English in practice. This is a new booklet which we will complete each day. It helps us to see how much we remember from our grammar work and our spelling work. I would like you to complete Day 3 of the booklet. Read the questions carefully making sure if you are asked to write an answer you write it in the box provided, if you’re asked to circle an answer you circle it, or if you are asked to tick a question, you tick it. Only do Day 3 today.

Today we are going to continue with our Guided Reading. Have a look on the timetable for today and see which book or chapter your group have to read. Once you have read your book or chapter, discuss what you have read with the adult who has listened to you. Once you have done this, take from your learning pack, the task for this piece of Guided Reading. When you answer your questions remember to use full sentences, capital letters and full stops. Remember to make sure your handwriting is neat and well presented. Read over your answers to ensure they make sense and are answering the question.

Once you have completed your Guided Reading task then you have an opportunity to continue learning and testing yourself on your weekly spellings which you received on Monday.

Remember to upload your finished work so I can view it and give you some feedback.

Numeracy

In your learning pack you will find your mental maths workbook. Complete  Wednesday’s tasks for the first week.

We are continuing to look at money using our addition, subtraction and multiplication skills that we have learnt this year and applying them to money.

Remember we only have the following coins in our currency or money 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.

Today we are going to look at money and addition. When we are doing addition, there are certain words from our numeracy wall, that give us clues that we are adding, such as- altogether, total, how much? These are clue words we sometimes find in questions.

In your learning packs and using Book 1, complete the next 4 pages (numbered 7, 8, 10 and 24) in your booklet. The pages 7 and 8 ask you how much altogether. Page 10 asks you how much and which coins you would use to buy the item. Page 24 (numbered at the bottom of the page) asks for the total value of each group of coins.

On page 8 the value of each item is more than one pound. (£1). If our value is more than one pound we need to use the pound sign £. If our value is more than a pound we show the amount of pounds and pence by placing a dot between the number of pounds and the number of pence. For example, one pound and twenty pence is written as £1.20, the dot separates the pounds and the pence. Do not forget the dot as this can change the value - £1.20 compared to £120.

The work for these tasks can be completed on your sheets.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Since we returned to school in September, every Wednesday afternoon is dedicated to looking at and after our wellbeing. We are important and those around us such as our families, friends and teachers are very aware of this. Sometimes we forget how important we really are! We have been away from school and learning at home for a long time. For many of us, including me, we miss being at school with our friends and learning and doing new and fun things. It is important to look after ourselves both physically and mentally. Due to the many restrictions there are lots of things we cannot do but the good news is things are getting better as more people get vaccinated. So today we are going to take time out and think about ourselves and look at ways to feel better.

Using the attached sheet (Ways to feel better) I would like you to see how many of the suggestions you could do today. I tried this out before I set the task and managed to do them all, though I had to look hard for a toy to hug! It took about 30 minutes to complete all the suggestions and yes I did feel better and it made me smile 🙂 So have a go and feel better, it will do you good. Let me know how you got on. Enjoy your Wellbeing Wednesday 😃

Diary

I would like you to complete a diary entry for today. Remember to date your entry and answer the following questions:

How do I feel today? What did I like doing? What’s the weather like? What is happening in the world today?

For the last question you will have to listen to the news or ask an adult.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.
