Primary 4O Tasks for Wednesday 10 March 2021

9th Mar 2021

Hello boys and girls. I hope you are all well. These are your tasks for today. I have combined our usual Wellbeing Wednesday activity with today’s Science Week experiment, so have fun Ice 🧊 Fishing 🎣. I am in school today and will be having a catch-up Team meeting from 11:30 to 12:00. I also have an online meeting this afternoon.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you some feedback. Have a good day and enjoy this afternoon’s Wellbeing / Science activity. 😃

Literacy

In your New Wave English in practice booklet, complete Day 13. Only do Day 13 today.

Today we are focussing on Guided Reading 📖 Have a look on the timetable for today and see which book or chapter 📚your group have to read. Once you have read your book or chapter, discuss what you have read with the adult who has listened to you. Once you have done this, take from your learning pack, the task for this piece of Guided Reading. When you answer your questions remember to use full sentences, capital letters and full stops. Remember to make sure your handwriting is neat and well presented. Read over your answers to ensure they make sense and are answering the question.

Once you have completed your Guided Reading task then you have an opportunity to continue learning and testing yourself on your weekly spellings which you received on Monday.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you some feedback.

Numeracy

In your learning pack you will find your mental maths workbook. Complete Wednesday’s tasks for the third week.

As we know we are looking at money. We are looking at the coins we use and how we can use our addition, subtraction and multiplication skills that we have been learning this year and apply them to money.

Remember we only have the following coins in our currency or money 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.

Today we are going to focus on values up to 20p using 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p. In your Money booklet 2, select the pages titled Values up to 20p and Shopping with 15p. These tasks will be completed on the worksheets.

In the task, Values up to 20p, you need to find out which coin is missing to make the amount up to 20p. Remember which coins we have in our currency.

In the task, Shopping with 15p, in part A, you need to complete the table putting in the cost of the item, the change from 15p and the coins that were given in your change. In part B, you need to draw the coins you would give if you gave the exact money for the item.

Read the questions carefully checking the number of coins you need to use for each amount.🤔

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.

Wellbeing Wednesday/Science Week Experiment

As this is British Science Week and each day I have been posting a fun experiment for you to try at home. As Mrs McLaughlin said in her letter explaining about Science Week on the school’s website, these are fun activities for all the family to try with the chance to learn some interesting and amazing scientific facts. We know that it is important to look after ourselves both physically and mentally. Due to the many restrictions there are lots of things we cannot do but the good news is things are getting better and it is good to know there are activities we can do with our family at home and online with our friends.   So today we are going to combine our regular Wellbeing Wednesday activity with today’s Science Week experiment. So, today we are going to go fishing 🎣, but not for fish 🐠. We are going to go fishing for ice cubes 🧊!!! Yes I said ice cubes. All you need is some ice cubes, water, salt, string and a plate. I have attached a video below explaining how to do the experiment and the science behind it. Get your family involved. See who catches the most.   Send me some pictures of you doing the experiment and your results. Have fun and let me know how many ice cubes you caught. I managed five😉.

Diary

I would like you to complete a diary entry for today. Remember to date your entry and answer the following questions:

How do I feel today? What did I like doing? What’s the weather like? What is happening in the world today?

For the last question you will have to listen to the news or ask an adult. I had some interesting replies to this question last week, so keep them coming.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.
