Primary 4O Tasks for Tuesday 9 March 2021

8th Mar 2021

Hello boys and girls, I hope you are all safe and well. I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s science experiment. There is another one for you to try today. You can check out some other fun experiments using Mrs. McLaughlin’s link. These are today’s tasks. Please remember to upload your finished work so I can view it and give you some feedback.

Literacy

In your New Wave English in practice booklet, complete Day 12. Only do Day 12 today.

Today we are focussing on Guided Reading ๐Ÿ“– Have a look on the timetable for today and see which book or chapter ๐Ÿ“šyour group have to read. Once you have read your book or chapter, discuss what you have read with the adult who has listened to you. Once you have done this, take from your learning pack, the task for this piece of Guided Reading. When you answer your questions remember to use full sentences, capital letters and full stops. Remember to make sure your handwriting is neat and well presented. Read over your answers to ensure they make sense and are answering the question.

Once you have completed your Guided Reading task then you have an opportunity to continue learning and testing yourself on your weekly spellings which you received on Monday.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you some feedback.

Numeracy

In your learning pack you will find your mental maths workbook for the next four weeks. Complete Tuesday’s  tasks for the third week.

As we know we are looking at money. We are looking at the coins we use and how we can use our addition, subtraction and multiplication skills that we have been learning this year and apply them to money.

Remember we only have the following coins in our currency or money 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.

Today we are going to focus on values up to 20p using 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p. In your Money booklet 2, select page 48. This will be completed in your numeracy books. Read the questions carefully checking the number of coins you need to use.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.

P.E.

Today we are going to workout with Joe Wicks’ P.E. Fitness programme. Have a look at last week’s video, which is last Wednesday’s (3 March) broadcast and see how you get on. I have put the link to the video, which is on YouTube, below. Remember that exercise is good for your fitness and both your physical and mental health. So click on the link, get fit and enjoy๐Ÿƒ‍โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ‍โ™‚๏ธ

Diary

I would like you to complete a diary entry for today. Remember to date your entry and answer the following questions:

How do I feel today? What did I like doing? What’s the weather like? What is happening in the world today?

For the last question you will have to listen to the news or ask an adult.

Remember to upload your work so I can view it and give you feedback.

Science Week Experiment

This is British Science Week and each day I will be posting a fun experiment for you to try at home. As Mrs McLaughlin said in her letter explaining about this week on the school’s website, these are fun activities for all the family to try with the chance to learn some interesting and amazing scientific facts. Today we are going to look at and build some hovercrafts. Our forces of flight will be useful in this experiment, remember thrust, lift, drag and gravity. All you need for this is paper and a big puff of air. So watch the video, get creative with your hovercrafts, try them out, maybe race them and most of all have fun.๐Ÿ˜ฒ Send me some pictures of you doing the experiment and your results.
