Primary 4O tasks for Friday 12 February 2021

8th Feb 2021

Hello boys and girls

I have finished our class’ Parent Interviews. These are your tasks for today which are also on Teams. Remember to upload your finished work so I can view it and give you some feedback.

Literacy

Today we will be watching our BBC Look and Learn literacy programme called Spywatch. So far our two evacuees Norman and Mary have been placed in their new homes. Norman has gone to live with Aunty Amy at Wells Farm, where he meets a fellow evacuee called Dennis. The boys meet Polly, who they don’t like at first and begin to experience country life.  Mary who has been placed at Westbourne Hall with Mr. Grainger and Miss Millington, who are very unpleasant, is not enjoying her stay. Polly thinks Grainger is trying to drive them off the farm, but Norman thinks he is a spy. Your literacy tasks (4a and 4b) are attached below, for you to complete.

So, Google YouTube and type in Spywatch and click on Episode 4: Trouble for Mary. Watch the programme carefully as it sets the scene for future episodes in the story.

Complete your tasks in your literacy books.
Task 4a: Word Spy Find the hidden words in the word lists. In the easy level you have to find one word, in the intermediate level find two words and in the difficult level find more than two words.

Task 4b: Less Using the word box, write out and complete the sentences in question 2. In question 3, using the less words from the word box draw your own cartoons, with a speech bubble showing  the less word.

Numeracy

Today we will be looking at using halves and quarters in problem solving.

Remember a half is when something or an amount is divided into 2 equal parts or amounts. For example, half of 12 is 6 (two equals lots of 6).

Remember a quarter is when something or an amount is divided into 4 equal parts or amounts. For example, quarter of 12 is 3 (four equals lots of 3).

Your task is attached below and should be completed in your numeracy book.

World Around Us

This task is for all week. As part of our World Around Us topic of World War II, we will be completing a research project on one of the leading figures of World War II. For example, Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill,  Anne Frank or any other Important person involved in the war. The purpose of this project is to allow you to use and develop your research skills by using the Internet or books in order to gain information and knowledge about your chosen person. You will present your finished research facts to the class. This we will do when we come back to school as a whole class sometime in the future. Your project can either be as a booklet or poster. I would ask you not to print off loads and loads of pages from the Internet as much of it you may not understand. Your project should contain facts about your chosen person such as their date and place of birth, some information about their early life, anything interesting about them and what they did during World War II. As with any project this will take time to do so you have all this week and until after half term to complete your project. I am not giving you too much literacy or numeracy work along with your project as it takes time to read information from the Internet or books and then put down the facts that you need for your project. I’m not looking for a very long project or one with tons and tons of detail that you don’t understand as I said earlier we will present these projects when we come back to class sometime in the future. I’m looking forward to hearing and seeing the results of your research and fact-finding. Enjoy it and good luck.

Diary

Complete your diary entry for today. Make sure you diary entry is dated and write neatly and clearly. Remember to upload your diary entry so I can view it and give you feedback.
