Applying for a Post-Primary Place

Dear P7 Parents,

Online applications for post-primary places will open at 12noon on Tuesday 1 February 2022 and will close at 4pm on Wednesday 23 February 2022. 

When the application window opens parents will be able to click on the "Apply Now" button to access the portal on the EA website www.eani.org.uk/admissions

Parents who are awaiting the results of entrance tests, either GL or AQE on Saturday 5th February 2022, may either partially complete an application before receiving results or wait until the results are received.

Places are NOT allocated on a first come, first served basis. Post-Primary Schools WILL NOT consider applications until after the closing date.

It is important that you:

  • Find schools in your area.
  • Read the Admissions Criteria.
  • Check what supporting documentation is required to be uploaded with your application
  • List at least four preferences on your application.  
  • Check whether transport assistance will be available for your child. Transport Eligibility Checker

Admissions criteria for all post-primary schools is now accesible on the EA website. If a parent has a query about the published criteria for any school they may contact the post-primary school.

A ‘Post Primary Application Tutorial Video’ providing a step-by-step guide to completing the online
application will be made available prior to the application window opening. You will be able to access the

Updated FAQ documents for parents and primary schools will also be accessible on the website prior to the application window opening.
