P6/7C Week beginning 18th May

17th May 2020

Good morning Everyone,

Another week of lockdown!! I hope you and your family are all well. I am certainly finding having to stay indoors a bit tougher. For this week I am only going to give you your mental maths and spellings. There a few other things happening this week that I would love you to get involved in.

Mental Health Awareness Week: Kindness

This week is mental health awareness week and the theme is kindness. You all know how important kindness is to us at Braidside. If you look on the school website there is a post about a 7 day Kindness Challenge - I would like you to have a go at as many of these challenges as you can and send me some pictures that we can add to the online 'Wall of Kindness'. P6/7 let's see if we can get the most pictures on the wall - I know we can do it!!! I hope you have noticed that on the final day you are to be kind to yourself - so have a day doing some of your favourite things!

Also as part of Mental Health Awareness Week I have given you a link to a video that tells you about the 5 a day for a healthy mind:

Keep Learning - What new things have you been learning during the past couple of months?

Be Active - I hope you are remembering to be active everyday, it's good for your mind as well as your body?

Give - It makes you feel good to give - have you given your parents/carers a hand around the house or your siblings a bit of help with their work?

Connect - Have you and your family come up with new ways to keep in touch with friends and family?

Take Notice - With all this extra time have you taken more notice of things around you, how have the tress and plants been changing, notice the birds building nests. What other things have you noticed for the first time?

You might like to design a poster to remind yourself of these important things.

Virtual Sports Day:

As this time of year in school we would be planning to have our sports day. As a school we have registered for the Healthy Kidz Virtual Sports Day, you then need to register individually I hope some of you have done so already. Today 18/5/2020 is the last day to register. Once you register there are lots of activities to participate in and you can upload your results onto the app. Have fun and get active!!

Mental Maths

I have attached four mental maths tests and a times table speed test, as with previous weeks do not worry if you find mental maths 3 and 4 too tricky just do what you can.

Spellings

I have included pictures of the spellings activities we would have been doing in class, hope you can see them ok. If you just read them on the screen and write them into your exercise book that is fine rather than printing them out.

That is all for this week, as always I love to see how you are getting on so please send me some photos.

Be Kind!!
