P5M activities for Monday, 8th March 2021

7th Mar 2021

Monday, 8th March 2021

Hi boys and girls, I can’t believe that this is now week 8 of our online learning. For many of you, today will see the return to school for younger brothers and sisters in P1-3. I’m feeling more hopeful now that we will get to return after the Easter Holidays so that means we only have to do three more weeks of online learning. I would much rather be back in school but at least the weeks seem to be going in quickly for us.

Today is International Woman’s Day and this week is also British Science Week. Please see the letter on the school website and on teams about this.

Our plan for Monday, 1st March is as follows

Session 1 – Numeracy

New Waves Mental Maths – Pg 16 (Mon). I will post the answers on Monday afternoon.

Multiplying by 4 interactive game. Play any of the games to practise your 4 times tables.

Mental Maths strategy – watch video on multiplying by 4 using repeated addition and then complete quiz using this strategy.

Subtracting HTU’s sheet with mixed exchanging – (complete sheet and hand in) (Assignment) Watch out for the ones that don’t need for you to exchange.

Session 2 – Literacy.

We are nearing the end of our handwriting book. I think that we might have one more page to do. I not planning to do anymore handwriting now until after Easter. If you have any pages to finish off, you can get caught up in your spare time.

Spellings – more ea words. Complete spelling list and wordsearch. Watch video to help you. You do not need to hand this work in.

Comprehension on Helen Keller. Watch International Woman’s day PowerPoint first. Then watch my video for the comprehension. Once completed hand in your assignment.

Session 3 – British Science Week - art activity.  Please read the attached letter.

Art – If you have ever read George’s Marvellous medicine, this week’s art will be a bit like that! Whereby you will use things that you might not have ever dreamt of using!!

This week I would like you to experiment with foods in your kitchen or even flowers outside to make your own paint!! You can paint anything!!   You could use

  • coffee
  • tea
  • soya sauce
  • flowers or plants
  • spices

If you have a paintbrush you can use it but if you don’t you can use items from around your home like ear buds, a toothpick, straw or stick!!   Be imaginative!! Be creative!! Explore and Investigate!!!

Please send me photos of your art work.

Have fun!
