P3EH notes for week beginning Monday 18th May 2020
Dear P3 boys and girls,
Another week of not being with you and working from home and I am still missing you so very much! I hope you and your families continue to keep well and that you are still having fun and getting the opportunity to do something you love each day. As always I would love to see some pics of what you are all up to.
This week for your work based activities, I would like you to continue with your work packs and as we have now finished Jolly Grammar 1, I would like you to use these last few weeks to look at some important spellings which I have attached and continue to revise your look, cover, write check activities. Please continue with the Nelson grammar booklet and your comprehension booklet. The next comprehension you should be on this week is the one entitled ‘Dinosaurs’. As it is World Bee day this Wednesday I have also attached a little bee comprehension for you to complete and bees will form the focus of this week’s World Around Us activities. If you google world bee day you will come across lots of further information, websites and videos which will ensure you are a complete bee expert from that point onwards! :) Also if you did get the chance to make any minibeast hotels or to complete any other minibeast activities please don’t forget to send me a wee picture to the school email address which is info@braidsideintegratedps.ballymena.ni.sch.uk.
For Numeracy I would like to continue to revise your stories up to 20 and to continue to practice counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s forwards and back. We are starting tens and units activities and I have attached a brief explanation of this on our class page and a little worksheet of activities for you to complete. I have also included a tens and units base page if you want to practice this practically with coins or straws or dienes materials if you have them. I have also included some square paper to print out incase your parents or siblings wish to give you a little exercise or test of their own!
This week is Mental Health Awareness week and the theme for this year is kindness. I have therefore attached some little activities for you to try out and complete in relation to this and I hope you have fun doing so. I have also included a kindness daily diary which I felt you might like to replace your lockdown diary with for this week. Another nice and very kind activity to complete would be to write a postcard and send it to someone who is having to self-isolate because of the virus. You never know how this might brighten someone's day and I have attached a wee template to get you started.
Mrs McAuley has also kindly invited us to participate in a home based school tea party next Monday 25th May and we would love you to send in photos of this if you wish to do so. Full details are on our facebook page and website as always. Don’t forget to also register for the virtual sports day if you have not already done so. The link is as follows https://healthy-kidz.com and today is the last day to do so!
As always please just do the very best you can and don’t worry if you don’t complete everything. Missing you more with each passing week. Take care and stay safe, Mrs Horan.
