National Storytelling Week at Braidside

28th Jan 2021

Next week, from Monday 1st-Friday 5th February, we will be marking National Storytelling Week at Braidside, through remote learning activities and through whole-school celebrations. There are a number of exciting activities planned to draw your attention to!

Firstly, all our teachers are recording themselves reading a story, which will be shared with their class. These recordings will then also be placed on this webpage and class page for children and parents to chose another story to listen to and enjoy through the week. You should have about 12 to choose from!

As part of remote learning activities, teachers are planning for a story activity through the week and we will be launching a Fireside Quiz for everyone to participate in.

Finally, we would really like to learn what the children's favourite stories are, so we'd love it if parents could send a picture of the child together with their favourite book or story to their teacher as well as email the school info account (info@braidsideintegratedps.ballymena.ni.sch.uk). We hope that all our teachers and staff will join in too and we can share all the pictures on our website. We so miss having the children here in school, it will be lovely to see their happy faces again.

Telling stories is at the heart of every primary classroom. From the moment the children start Nursery, we emphasise and promote the benefits of bedtime reading and hope to instill a love of reading, which will stay with the children for many years. Story time can be a magical experience and we hope you will take the opportunity to read, share and tell stories at home throughout the week.
