Letter for P4O

Hello Primary 4O
I hope you are all well and safe and had a very chocolate-filled Easter. I have missed you all and it is so unusual not to be back at school and especially not in our NEW school!! Hopefully we will be in there soon. It will so exciting for everyone.
I hope you have been helpful for your family and are looking after yourselves and following all the rules. You were all so good following our hand washing routines before we stopped school.
I have been working in my garden and with all this fine weather it is looking great. I have not been allowed to leave my house to go for walks or do shopping, as I have asthma but I am exercising daily at home and I hope you are doing so too by going on walks, playing in your gardens and getting plenty of fresh air.
• As we finished early last term, we were unable to finish our research, or et a project completed for our Mammals topic. So, as part of our home learning, I would like you to choose any mammal and complete a short project. You can choose any mammal, some of you may like to pick your own cat or dog to research. There are many sites available on the Internet (e.g. www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/animals.html), but always remember to get your parents’ permission before using it.
• Our topic for this term was to be Plants, Flowers and Trees. If you have a garden, flowerpots, tubs or houseplants help your family with any gardening tasks such as planting, watering, feeding or weeding. Have a look at the plants. See how they are changing – leaves growing, buds appearing or growing bigger! If you don’t have a garden have a look around you when you are out on your walk. Look at other peoples’ gardens, the trees, the grass or even the weeds that may be growing along the way. See how they change over the next few weeks. I have seen so much change in my garden!
• Find out about the plants you have or see on your walk. Have a look at the following Internet site – www.primaryresources.co.uk and look under Life Processes and Living Things: Green Plants to find out lots of interesting information about our wonderful plant world.
• For Literacy, I would also encourage you to keep up your reading and don’t forget it is not just books remember comics, magazines, research information from the Internet also counts. Practice your spellings. If you can, keep a diary or scrapbook of things that are happening, like Norman in Spywatch. Also keep practicing your handwriting.
• For Numeracy, practice your counting and multiplication tables. Play number games on the Internet or even Snakes & Ladders.
I would also like to wish Imran and Dylan Hussain, Embarak alaikum shahr Ramadan, as they begin, as part of their religion, Ramadan for the next month. Good luck boys and I hope we will be able as a class to celebrate Eid together.
Don’t forget to clap for our wonderful NHS staff, care workers and all those frontline workers doing so much to help us and keep us safe.
