Calling all family and friends of Braidside!

11th Oct 2023

As a school, we are developing plans to transform some areas around our school grounds to create little wellbeing areas and fun outdoor learning spaces for all of our children, from Nursery to P7, to benefit from and enjoy! These areas include a little orchard, a forest area, a vegetable patch, and a sensory garden! To enable us to achieve this, we are seeking the help of you as parents, grandparents, family and friends! We need your brains, knowledge and expertise, as well as your brawn to help us plan, clear, build and plant, in order to create these wonderful learning spaces for your children!

At this stage we need two things - firstly, for anyone who has any knowledge, expertise, or just a passion for gardening and planting of any description, be it vegetables, fruit trees, wildflowers or garden plants, to please get in touch with Mrs Turner in the Nursery, either in person or by phonecall anytime after 11.45am, before the half-term holidays.

And secondly, we need your help to cut away all the dangerous overgrowth that is beginning to overrun the little forest area up at the back of the school, and to create a safe pathway to run through it. So we are organising a working party for this Saturday morning (14th October) from 10-1pm. Please pass this message on to anyone who might be willing to help, and plan to come along with your spades, strimmers, shears and secateurs! Please note at this stage, we are asking that children do NOT come along on Saturday as we will be working with sharp and dangerous tools. They will however get lots of opportunity to be involved later in the process!

Thank you all in advance for your support, your willingness and your help! I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!😀 Mrs Turner
